Designer Marine Serre unveiled her Fall Winter 2025 collection, marking her evolution in the fashion industry and celebrating women’s empowerment.
Designer Marine Serre showcased her Fall Winter 2025 collection, titled “Heads or Tails,” at a recent runway show in Paris, marking her growth and evolution since her debut in 2018. Now nearly 30, Serre exhibited a newfound confidence, confidently traversing the runway in a form-fitting jersey dress. This display was a tribute to her supporters, reflecting her journey over the past five years, during which she has garnered significant acclaim and recognition in the fashion industry.
The show took place in a venue that had once served as France’s original coin mint, now transformed into a multi-room space that felt like a luxurious ‘Hotel Particulier.’ Each room was equipped with screens to ensure a cohesive viewing experience. The collection drew inspiration from the enigmatic worlds of directors like David Lynch, particularly referencing the TV series “Twin Peaks,” setting a tone of mystery and elegance. “The collection is about the women and men as if they are in a David Lynch movie every day,” Serre elaborated while speaking to reporters. She aimed to capture a sense of understated sophistication in her designs, where everyday life feels cinematic.
Key elements of the collection highlighted sensuality, with designs that transformed traditional innerwear into outerwear. Serre incorporated lace-trimmed styles reminiscent of classic slips and camisoles, reinterpreted for daytime use. “I want women to be free and love themselves and feel very sensual,” she emphasized. The collection further included sculpted leather dresses crafted from upcycled biker jackets, featuring padded details that referenced the aesthetics of the 1950s and 1980s. “I referenced the fifties and eighties, like this kind of femme fatale and really healthy body,” she explained.
The show also paid homage to the architecturally significant space by incorporating coin motifs into the garments. Models sported hair clips shaped like coins, while a dramatic beret adorned with coins was featured as a bold accessory. Serre concluded the show with a spectacular dress made of red ribbons reminiscent of military medals, symbolically expressing her position in the world of fashion. “It’s really important for me, the brand and a woman CEO to be here. I want young people starting a brand to believe it’s possible in this difficult financial time,” she stated, highlighting her commitment to inspire the next generation of designers.
The iconic crescent moon motif, which has become synonymous with Serre’s brand, appeared subtly throughout the collection, suggesting her ability to evolve while still preserving her brand’s essence. In addition to the signature moon print, she presented designs inspired by French sailors and included a variety of fitted puffers, lace gowns, and even a striking strapless gown made of black satin.
Serre’s runway show coincided with a significant moment in her career: her takeover of Galeries Lafayette, where her image now dominates the building’s façade. This bold move signifies not only her growth as a designer but also emphasizes her position as a prominent female figure in the fashion industry. As she took her final bow on the runway, adorned in the crescent patterns that initially brought her recognition, the atmosphere echoed with sentiments of empowerment, reminiscent of classic anthems celebrating women’s strength in the workplace and beyond.
