Milan continues to be a pivotal location for style and innovation, going beyond its renowned Fashion Week events. A significant show of creativity emerged at the trade event WHITE Milano, which took place on Via Tortona and showcased approximately 300 brands. Within this vibrant setting, five standout brands have drawn attention for their distinct approaches to fashion.
Article Ten is based in Bucharest and was founded by designer Stefana Maior, who emphasizes a reinterpretation of timeless design through the use of luxury maison deadstock. Maior describes her creations as “a fusion of old and new, opulence and simplicity, courage and elegance, rebellion and romance – a collection of contrasts in perfect harmony.” The brand aims to respond dynamically to sustainability concerns by focusing on reuse and upcycling, allowing for the emergence of new statement pieces that are imbued with individuality.
Next is Bombo Studio, a brand appealing to shirt aficionados with its blend of lightheartedness and sophistication. Known for its gender-neutral shirts featuring artistic elements and unique collar and cuff designs, Bombo Studio exclusively uses 100% cotton sourced from Italy.
Maria Teresa Palazzo, the brainchild of 23-year-old designer Maria Teresa Palazzo, merges traditional knitting techniques with modern design to celebrate both heritage and innovation. Her collection, which is proudly “Made in Italy,” showcases feminine silhouettes, demonstrating how it is possible to honor one’s background while embracing contemporary aesthetics.
Oh Carla, founded in 2020 by Carlotta Boldracchi and Claudia Nesi, presents a vision of beauty through sustainability. The seasonless brand focuses on upcycling by utilizing recycled fabrics and leftovers to craft 100% handcrafted unique pieces characterized by their couture-like appeal. The clothing is designed to adapt to the wearer, emphasizing a process of deconstruction and reconstruction where remnants are integrated into designs using various embroidery techniques, thus drastically minimizing waste.
Lastly, the label Rossi showcases a progressive perspective within the German fashion scene. Under the creative direction of Julian Daynov and leadership from CEO Tobias Schellenberger and his brother David, the unisex trouser collections embrace a “New Now” philosophy. This concept seeks to redefine fashion by eliminating gender boundaries and distancing itself from traditional seasonal trends.
