Los Angeles: Mindy Kaling made a glamorous entrance at the premiere of her new Netflix series Running Point. The event showcased her stylish gold gown, as she continues to champion strong female characters in her creative works. The series debuts on 27 February.
Mindy Kaling made a striking appearance on the red carpet at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles for the premiere of her new series, Running Point, on Thursday, 13 February. The event showcased the 10-episode series, which features Kate Hudson as the unexpected heir to a Los Angeles basketball franchise, following a scandal that leads to her brother, portrayed by Justin Theroux, stepping down.
Kaling, aged 45, opted for a glamorous ensemble, donning a form-fitting gold gown adorned with sequins, embellishments, and gold leaf appliqués accentuating the gown’s sheath skirt. In a demonstration of refined taste, she limited her accessories, wearing just three silver rings, allowing the intricate details of her gown to take centre stage. Her makeup included gold and bronze eyeshadow, complemented by a glossy brown lip and rosy pink blush, while her long black hair cascaded in loose waves, swept elegantly behind her.
Kaling has consistently impressed at red carpet events, including her notable appearance at the previous year’s Met Gala, where her voluminous Gaurav Gupta gown drew attention and required assistance to navigate the venue. This year, her understated glamour continued, as she retained focus on her meticulously chosen gown.
The series Running Point, which is set to premiere on 27 February on Netflix, highlights Kaling’s focus on projects featuring strong female leads. Discussing her creative direction, Kaling stated, “I really like ambitious women, underestimated women, women with secrets,” when she spoke to PEOPLE earlier this month. She emphasised her preference for characters with “big personalities” and noted that her taste extends to her selection of books through her Amazon Publishing Imprint, Mindy’s Book Studio, which launched in 2022.
In addition to Kaling, the creative team for Running Point includes Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen. The cast also features notable talents such as Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis, and Max Greenfield.
As anticipation builds for the series, Kaling’s commitment to showcasing robust and multifaceted female characters remains a hallmark of her work, drawing on themes that resonate with audiences.
