The 64th edition of ModaLisboa has launched in Lisbon, featuring fashion shows and discussions that explore the socio-economic aspects of the industry under the theme ‘CAPITAL’.
The 64th edition of ModaLisboa, a prominent fashion event in Portugal, commenced today and will run through Sunday, featuring a lineup of fashion shows, engaging discussions, and artistic installations at various venues including MUDE (Museu do Design), Centro de Arte Moderna (CAM), and Pátio da Galé. This year’s theme, “CAPITAL,” encapsulates the socio-economic aspects of the fashion industry, highlighting its social, cultural, and environmental impact.
The event opened with a series of “Fast Talks” at MUDE, a free-entry program aimed at fostering discussions surrounding critical issues in fashion. Notably, the organization has partnered with the Italian Embassy in Lisbon for this edition, aligning with the Italian Design Day. The inaugural day featured an invite-only workshop led by Matteo Ward, an Italian entrepreneur and sustainability advocate, followed by discussions centered on consumerism and its repercussions, concluding with a screening of two episodes of the series “Junk.”
While entry to today’s events at MUDE is free, prior registration is required through the ModaLisboa website. The program will transition on Friday to CAM, where the educational space will host “Diálogos,” offering intimate dialogues between artists and ModaLisboa designers, including conversations between Adriana Proganó and Diogo Mestre, as well as João Pedro Vale and Nuno Alexandre Ferreira with Marta Gonçalves.
On Friday, the Studio Room at CAM will showcase the fall/winter 2025/26 collection titled “Second Best” by designer Constança Entrudo. Additionally, Entrudo will present an exclusive selection of pieces from her bridal and spring/summer 2025 collections in the CAM shop.
Free activities at CAM will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with tickets available at the box office, two hours before each session. Later in the day, the festivities will return to Pátio da Galé for the final of the Sangue Novo contest, aimed at emerging fashion designers. The five finalists—Dri Martins, Duarte Jorge, Francisca Nabinho, Gabriel Silva Barros, and Ihanny Luquessa—were handpicked for their potential and have been nurturing their collections under the tutelage of a jury panel.
The event will also mark a poignant moment in the fashion community as it features collections from Alves/Gonçalves, which is returning to ModaLisboa following the passing of seminal designer Manuel Alves last year at age 72. Alves was a key figure at ModaLisboa’s inception in 1991, and this presentation marks the brand’s newly crafted collection after decades-long collaborations.
As the weekend progresses, Saturday will feature collections from various designers including Carlos Gil, Luís Onofre, and Ricardo Andrez, culminating on Sunday with final presentations from notable names such as Nuno Baltazar and Bárbara Anastácio. The Portuguese Soul showcase, organized by the Portuguese Association of Footwear, Components, Leather Articles, and their Substitutes (APICCAPS), will also take place.
A significant artistic installation titled “The Web that Unites Us” will be on display at Praça do Comércio from Friday to Sunday, led by ModaPortugal, the Textile Intelligence Center (CENIT), and the National Association of Clothing and Garment Industries (ANIVEC). This installation is designed to integrate the public experience with live fashion broadcasts from Pátio da Galé, tying back to themes of sustainability and artisanal craftsmanship.
ModaLisboa is a collaborative effort orchestrated by the Associação ModaLisboa and the Lisbon City Council, embodying the city’s vibrant fashion culture and its ongoing evolution in addressing global challenges within the industry.
