Santa Monica: Naomi Watts wowed onlookers at the 30th Critics Choice Awards in a striking red Prada gown, alongside her son Sasha. Notable moments included Liev Schreiber’s first win and the event’s rescheduling due to local wildfires. Highlighted films included Wicked and Conclave.

Naomi Watts captured attention with her stunning appearance alongside her son Sasha at the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards held in Santa Monica, California. The event took place at Barker Hangar after multiple postponements due to environmental concerns related to nearby wildfires.

The 56-year-old actress wore a striking red Prada gown featuring revealing side paneling, complemented by elegant Tiffany & Co. jewellery. Her signature bob hairstyle and a full face of makeup enhanced her glowing complexion, making a notable impact at the event. Standing at 5’5″, Watts was accompanied by her 17-year-old son, who looked dapper in a sophisticated suit and tie that accentuated the contrast in their heights.

Sasha is the son of Watts and her ex-partner, actor Liev Schreiber. Schreiber, 57, also attended the ceremony, clad in a Giorgio Armani suit and sharing proud moments on the red carpet with his wife Taylor Neisen and Sasha.

During the ceremony, Watts received a nomination in the Best Actress in a Limited Series category for her performance in the critically acclaimed series FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans. This nomination adds to her previous accolades, having been nominated for Critics Choice Awards in 2004 for 21 Grams and in 2013 for The Impossible.

Schreiber had a noteworthy evening as well, winning the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple, marking his first win at the Critics Choice Awards. In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to his son for encouraging his attendance at the prestigious event. Neisen, aged 32, was notably seen recording her husband as he took the stage.

The awards show, which was originally scheduled for January 12, faced multiple reschedules before finally taking place on February 26. The decision to push the event to a later date was influenced by its location near the Pacific Palisades, which had been affected by fires, raising safety concerns.

The nominations for this year’s ceremony highlighted significant works, with Wicked and Conclave leading the list; both films received 11 nominations, including Best Picture. Other notable films competing for the top honour include A Complete Unknown, Anora, The Brutalist, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, Nickel Boys, Sing Sing, and The Substance.

The Critics Choice Awards are recognised for celebrating excellence in film and television and are an important indicator of future successes during the awards season, drawing in numerous stars and industry professionals for a night of recognition and glamour.
