Pamella Roland, the renowned American fashion designer, unveiled her much-anticipated fall/winter 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week, showcasing her unique blend of vintage-inspired aesthetics and contemporary style. The prestigious event was held at the iconic Rainbow Room, situated on the 65th floor of Rockefeller Center, a location celebrated for its glamour and panoramic views of the city.

Often drawing on her love for travel, Roland’s designs reflect her experiences and inspirations, with her past collections telling stories of various locales. In her previous spring collection, she paid homage to Paris, but this season, the vibrant energy and timeless elegance of London took centre stage. Speaking to the Daily Mail after the show, Roland explained her London influence, noting, “We did all of Vanessa Williams’ costumes for The Devil Wears Prada musical in London so we spent a lot of time there,” highlighting her involvement in the successful stage production, whose music is composed by Elton John.

The collection prominently featured chic suiting tailored for the modern woman, inspired by The Square Mile, London’s financial district. “We fell like that’s what the London woman would wear more than anything else,” she expressed. This emphasis on sophisticated, stylish silhouettes aligns with the retro aesthetics seen throughout the collection, echoing the influence of past fashion eras on current celebrity wardrobes.

Animal prints also made a striking appearance throughout the collection, nodding to London’s lively nightlife. Roland remarked on this detail, saying, “We went to a lot of clubs when we were in London and animal print was common in the decor.” The colour palette showcased various shades evocative of London’s dynamic cityscape, including royal blues, rich burgundies, muted greys, and gold accents.

Key pieces in the presentation included a dramatic gunmetal gown with sculpted shoulders and an outfit featuring a black crystal zebra motif. These standout items highlight the designer’s commitment to luxurious fabrics and avant-garde design elements, which resonate with the modern vintage trend embraced by many celebrities today.

Completing the glamorous aesthetic were polished hairstyles by Narad Kutowaroo, overseen by UNITE Haircare, and soft, sensual makeup crafted by Amway Global Makeup Artist Rick DiCecca. Adding to the final touches, red manicures by Pattie Yankee and Team PYP contributed to the feminine allure of the collection.

This marks the second consecutive season that Pamella Roland hosted her catwalk presentation at the illustrious Rainbow Room, with the designer expressing her admiration for the venue, stating, “Tonight the sun had set so it was darker than last season but it gave you the mood; it’s such a beautiful space, it’s iconic.”

Tradition plays a significant role in Roland’s work, particularly in her ritual of taking a final bow accompanied by one or all of her children. “Since 2002 everyone knows I always do that,” she shared, reflecting on the journey of balancing her family commitments with her professional endeavours. She added, “People always tell me we’re so calm behind the scenes and I say ‘have you ever raised teenage daughters? That’s so much more difficult than this!’”

Looking forward, the designer recently took a family trip to Antarctica, teasing potential future inspirations for her upcoming collections. As vintage fashion continues to shape modern celebrity style, Pamella Roland’s exploration of iconic influences and her dedication to her craft keep her at the forefront of the fashion scene.
