His transition from dance to modelling occurred after he realised the longevity of a fashion career contrasted with the ephemeral nature of dance. He expressed his deep engagement with the fashion industry, stating he developed a love for behind-the-scenes operations and began to educate himself about the fashion business.
Having dropped out of the University of the Arts in pursuit of his passion, Parker and Scott began their collaboration by creating a platform for local designers, initially conducting college tours to institutions lacking dedicated fashion programmes. This grassroots initiative paved the way for establishing Philly Fashion Week just as other cities were hosting similar events, marking a pivotal moment in the local fashion scene.
The first show took place at Philadelphia’s City Hall. Over the years, venues have included prestigious locations such as the Kimmel Center and more unconventional spaces like a parking garage when inclement weather threatened to derail plans for an outdoor event. Parker highlighted the importance of activating vacant spaces for pop-up events and fostering community involvement.
