Queensland: Sheet Yeah!, founded by Todd Windley and Jacque Markie, aims to replace single-use plastics with sustainable laundry detergent sheets, now available in 800 Woolworths stores. The company focuses on eco-conscious consumerism and plans to expand its product range further.

Queensland-based company Sheet Yeah!, founded by Todd Windley and Jacque Markie in 2022, aims to revolutionise the laundry industry with an eco-friendly, sustainable product. The company has made significant strides in the market by securing shelf space for its innovative laundry detergent sheets at 800 Woolworths stores across Australia. This expansion marks a notable achievement in the founders’ mission to eliminate single-use plastics from households while also providing a skin-friendly alternative.

With a combined 30 years of experience in retail, Windley and Markie set out to create a product that not only meets consumer needs but also addresses environmental concerns. Their laundry sheets, which are made from plant-based ingredients and packaged in recyclable materials, align with a growing trend towards eco-conscious consumerism.

During an interview with SmartCompany, Windley emphasised the importance of understanding customer behaviour for the brand’s growth. “When we launched Sheet Yeah! as an online store, we quickly realised from customer feedback that people wanted the convenience of being able to purchase in-store rather than just online,” he said. This insight led the founders to pursue retail partnerships to facilitate a wider distribution of their product, enhancing accessibility for their customers.

Engagement at expos and markets has played a crucial role in Sheet Yeah!’s development, allowing the founders to connect directly with consumers. Windley stated that these interactions helped refine their branding and mark the right direction for future product development. “It allowed us to refine our messaging and pointed us in the right direction for our new product development,” he explained.

The partnership with Woolworths was facilitated through the Seedlab Australia incubator programme, which focuses on supporting emerging businesses. Windley noted that the Seedlab initiative provided invaluable insights into retail dynamics and enhanced their operational capabilities. “Seedlab really helped us strengthen and refine everything from packaging to supply chain logistics, ensuring we were ready to scale and meet the demands of a major retailer like Woolworths,” he mentioned.

Following extensive discussions and product evaluations with Woolworths, Sheet Yeah! secured a position on store shelves. Windley expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, “Seeing our products on the shelves of Woolworths never gets old, and this partnership has been a major milestone for us.” He emphasised the importance of making sustainable products a mainstream choice among consumers, aiming for low-tox and no-tox alternatives to become a standard in Australian households.

Looking ahead, Sheet Yeah! intends to expand its product range and enhance its marketing efforts to increase brand awareness. Windley confirmed, “We have loads of new products in the pipeline, all about making eco-living quick and easy, with a little bit of fun.” The founders are committed to growing their impact within the eco-friendly market and showcasing the benefits of sustainable living for consumers’ health as well as the environment.
