As he gears up for his film ‘Love & War’, actor Ranbir Kapoor steps into the fashion world with his label Arks, catering to a young, health-conscious audience.

As actor Ranbir Kapoor prepares to commence filming for his upcoming project “Love & War,” directed by renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he is simultaneously making strides in the fashion industry with his newly launched label, Arks. This initiative is gradually finding its place within the wardrobes of both his fans and the broader fashion-savvy demographic in India.

Arks features a collection characterized by a minimalist yet stylish aesthetic, designed to resonate with a younger, health-conscious audience. The label’s offering is indicative of Kapoor’s personal style, which is typically understated but fashionable. Given Kapoor’s significant public profile and the relatively affordable pricing of his products, there are expectations that scaling the business could be achievable. The key to this growth may lie in expanding the brand’s presence through multi-brand retail outlets nationwide. While exact plans remain undisclosed due to Kapoor’s focus on acting commitments, the foundational aspects of the business—a flagship store located in Mumbai and a robust online presence—are already in place.

The trend of celebrities launching their own fashion and beauty brands has gained considerable traction globally. Examples include Victoria Beckham with her fashion label, Kim Kardashian’s creation of Skims, and Stella McCartney’s successful brand, which has evolved through various partnerships and ownership changes over the years. Other notable names include Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyoncé, and Rihanna, all of whom have established their presence in the fashion world with various ventures that enjoy considerable market success.

In India, Bollywood stars have also increasingly ventured into fashion and beauty. Salman Khan’s “Being Human,” which launched in 2012, has become a recognized entity. Other celebrities such as Anushka Sharma with her brand Nush, Rhea and Sonam Kapoor with Rheson, and Katrina Kaif with her Kay Beauty line have all made significant impacts. Likewise, Hrithik Roshan’s HRX, Tiger Shroff’s Prowl, Shahid Kapoor’s Skult, and many others have carved niches in the competitive market. This trend extends to mental health awareness through fashion, as seen with Alia Bhatt’s maternity wear brand Ed-a-Mamma and Priyanka Chopra’s haircare line Anomaly, among others.

While the nascent nature of these celebrity brands raises questions about their longevity and business viability, a fashion designer, who requested anonymity, commented on the matter. “Some start these ventures out of passion, as a means of expressing their aesthetic sensibilities. Others, like Being Human by Salman Khan, incorporate philanthropy into their business model,” the designer explained. “However, regardless of their motivation, these brands hold massive appeal. If priced correctly and managed professionally—covering production, distribution, marketing, and sales—they have enormous potential.”

With the fashion landscape constantly evolving, the success of Arks, alongside other celebrity brands, underscores a significant shift in how public figures influence market trends and customer preferences.
