The partnership aims to innovate textile dyeing processes and promote sustainability in the fashion industry.

SHEIN, a prominent player in the global online fashion and lifestyle retail market, has announced a new partnership with Transfar Chemicals, a company renowned for its innovations in functional chemistry and new materials technology. The collaboration, revealed on March 5, 2025, in Singapore, aims to enhance textile dyeing and finishing processes, leading to more sustainable industry practices.

The partnership will primarily focus on three areas of advancement: the digitalization of dyeing and textile finishing processes to minimize energy consumption, water usage, and carbon emissions; the creation of innovative functional fabrics that cater to contemporary consumer demands, including stretch and water-repellent materials; and the establishment of standardized testing methods for new textile materials and garments to ensure safety, quality, and performance.

According to SHEIN, the synergy between its digitalized supply chain platform and Transfar Chemicals’ expertise in functional chemistry is expected to drive the promotion and adoption of cutting-edge textile production and dyeing methods. This collaboration will not only help SHEIN adapt to the rising demand for premium textiles but also enable Transfar Chemicals to engage with local textile and dyeing enterprises, fostering the commercialization of its research and innovations.

The retail giant has been optimizing its supply chain to address the discrepancies between consumer demand and inventory, with a particular focus on reducing textile waste right from the outset. In tandem with this partnership, SHEIN has made strides in innovative practices, such as introducing polyester recycling methods in conjunction with Donghua University. This new process can utilize a broader scope of materials, including textile waste and PET bottles, enhancing cost efficiency when compared to previous recycled polyester options. Early tests show that fabrics generated from this recycling process can be reused multiple times without significantly compromising their properties.

SHEIN’s strategic initiatives reflect its commitment to modernizing the textile dyeing and finishing sector and positioning itself at the forefront of industry developments, leveraging technology and collaborative efforts to promote sustainable practices in fashion production.
