Tokyo: To mark its 50th anniversary, SHIPS has launched a commemorative collection featuring exclusive products, including a House Tartan, tailored blazers, handcrafted bags, and bespoke denim, all reflecting the brand’s heritage and partnerships, demonstrating its commitment to quality and global craftsmanship.

SHIPS is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a special range of limited-edition items that pay homage to its heritage and global connections. Founded five decades ago, SHIPS has maintained a commitment to providing high-quality products sourced from various regions, including the Americas and Europe. The launch of this commemorative collection marks a significant milestone in the company’s enduring journey.

As part of the celebration, SHIPS has introduced the House Tartan created in collaboration with Kinloch Anderson, a traditional tailor and kilt maker based in Edinburgh, Scotland, which has been in operation since 1868. The tartan design draws inspiration from both nature and the stories associated with SHIPS, integrating the company’s traditions, philosophy, and distinctive style, and has received official recognition from The Scottish Register of Tartans. This tartan will be featured throughout the company’s seasonal collection.

Among the limited-edition items available for pre-order is a blazer from the exclusive SHIPS brand, Valditaro, known for its embodiment of Italian tradition. This navy blazer showcases the brand’s signature three-patch pockets, embellished with a commemorative emblem and metal buttons custom-made for the 50th anniversary. Tailored in Italy, the blazer uses American-made metal buttons and features a British emblem, effectively merging various cultural elements into one garment.

Another notable item is a meticulously crafted bag by GHURKA, a brand that has been linked with SHIPS since its inception. The special edition of the No. 5 “Examiner” bag captures the essence of the Trafalgar era while also reflecting earnest handmade craftsmanship from New York. The exterior retains its classic design, while the lining features a phantom solid pattern reminiscent of the original model. Additionally, the bag is limited to just 50 pieces, each etched with the SHIPS name.

The collaboration with MARCEL LASSANCE has resulted in the highly anticipated revival of the rare Kendall last, producing both plain-toe and chukka boots. Crafted from Horween’s shell cordovan, these boots showcase a minimal yet sophisticated style, complemented by the embossed logos of all three partnering brands on the insoles.

Complementing the special collections is a navy blazer that embodies the spirit of SHIPS, constructed through a triple collaboration involving TICCA’s double jacket design. This piece features a SHIPS emblem pattern lining crafted by Manipuri, along with “S”-engraved buttons. Celebratory can badges marking the 50th anniversary further enhance its uniqueness.

Additionally, a photo T-shirt custom-made by COUTURE D’ADAM showcases three selections from the photographic works of Sam Haskins, a renowned 20th-century photographer who continues to influence various creative fields. The T-shirt design itself is a homage to his impactful artistic vision.

The collection also includes bespoke denim, inspired by the iconic style of actress Jane Birkin, launched under “SHIPS WOMEN” in 1979. This straightforward yet stylish denim, featuring vintage elements, showcases a flare silhouette with side panels, enhancing the leg’s line.

Moreover, a special signet ring has been introduced to symbolise the 50-year journey of SHIPS. This ring features a unique original emblem with three-dimensional engravings of an “S” and an anchor, meticulously crafted from 925 silver and K18 gold-plated 925 silver, with all production processes taking place in Japan.

The collection is rounded out with a variety of other limited-edition items created in collaboration with different brands, showcasing SHIPS’ ongoing legacy and creative partnerships. As the company reflects on its five decades of evolution, these special items provide a tangible connection to its heritage and future.
