New online platform SmartCustomer connects shoppers with over 500 fashion labels, offering a transparent shopping experience amid declining trust in traditional search engines.
A new online platform called SmartCustomer has been launched by the creators of Sitejabber, a brand review site boasting over 10 million consumer reviews. Designed specifically for clothing brands, SmartCustomer aims to connect consumers with over 500 fashion labels, ranging from well-known designers to emerging boutiques, through a transparent and inclusive shopping interface.
Michael Lai, CEO and co-founder of both Sitejabber and SmartCustomer, emphasized the platform’s mission in a recent statement. “In a digital world dominated by paid endorsements and ads, shoppers need a candid, straightforward way to find brands that genuinely match their needs,” he said. SmartCustomer is geared toward providing an organized and reliable resource for those looking to identify brands that align with their values and preferences.
The initiative comes at a time when consumer trust in traditional search engines and social media platforms is waning. A survey conducted in December 2024 by Vox Media and The Verge revealed that many U.S. adults perceive a lack of authenticity in search results, with 76% indicating that a significant portion of Google’s shopping results appear to be sponsored. Additionally, 66% of respondents expressed concerns over the declining quality of information available online.
SmartCustomer offers a variety of user-friendly filters for shoppers, including options for size, price, shipping time, and specific styles, catering to a range of consumer needs. Each brand featured on the platform goes through a detailed research process to ensure the information presented is accurate and unbiased.
Lai also noted that the platform provides opportunities for smaller and emerging brands to connect with potential customers without being limited by marketing budgets. “We have both the consumers’ and brands’ interests prioritized accordingly to ensure SmartCustomer will be a helpful tool for everyone involved.”
As the platform continues to grow, it aims to add more brands and filter categories to enhance the shopping experience. In the future, new brands will also have the ability to create and manage their own pages on Sitejabber, further integrating into the SmartCustomer ecosystem.
