The new capsule collection features unisex clothing and accessories made from eco-friendly materials, celebrating a beloved animated series while promoting sustainability.
Stella McCartney Kids has unveiled a new limited-edition capsule collection in collaboration with Paramount’s Nickelodeon, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. The collection, titled Stella McCartney Kids x SpongeBob SquarePants, features a unisex assortment of clothing, swimwear, footwear, and vegan accessories targeted at children aged 0 to 14.
The collection stands out not only for its playful designs featuring iconic characters from the series but also for its commitment to sustainability. Research highlighted in the journal Nature Climate Change warns that up to 90% of marine life could be at risk of extinction by the year 2100 if greenhouse gas emissions continue unchecked. Given that the fashion industry is responsible for a significant amount of microplastic pollution—estimated to be between 20 to 35% of all microplastics entering the ocean—this collaboration aims to address such environmental concerns.
The Stella McCartney Kids x SpongeBob SquarePants capsule is made using 93% conscious and 100% cruelty-free materials, aligning with the brand’s ethos of protecting the environment and animal welfare. The collection showcases a coastal vibe that merges beach and skate aesthetics, featuring designs crafted from organic cotton. These include light crochet knits, denim, and tie-dye loungewear, as well as bombers and bags made from recycled materials, thereby contributing to reducing plastic waste in the oceans.
The product lineup comprises brightly colored items such as acid wash yellow denim sets embroidered with the entire Bikini Bottom gang and crochet pieces prominently featuring SpongeBob himself. Additionally, the collection includes tie-dye themes across organic cotton jersey, fleece, and denim, showcasing Stella McCartney’s distinctive typography in block colors. Monochrome sketch designs are also found on pinstripe cotton poplin sets, faded denim shorts, and boxy tees.
Consumers can expect to find the Stella McCartney Kids x SpongeBob SquarePants collection available online at stellamccartney.com and in select Stella McCartney boutiques globally, as well as through select wholesalers starting March 20, 2025. The collection aims to blend fun and sustainability, encapsulating both style and environmental consciousness as it debuts to the public.
