Taiwanese fashion brand NAMESAKE teams up with NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown’s 7uice to release “Intellectual Club,” a 31-piece collection blending basketball culture, chess strategy, and high-end streetwear, debuted at Paris Fashion Week and now available online.
Taiwanese fashion label NAMESAKE, recognized for its unique blend of basketball culture and high-end streetwear, has unveiled a new collaborative collection with NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown’s sportswear brand, 7uice. The 31-piece assortment, titled “Intellectual Club,” aims to bridge fashion, athletics, and community through a creative lens inspired by the strategic nuances of chess.
Rather than merely celebrating basketball, the collection explores the dualities inherent in a chess game—contrasts such as “black and white, offense and defense, power and patience.” This conceptual framework is reflected throughout the line’s designs, with the brand emphasizing that “every piece is a move, and every detail: a calculated gesture.”
“Intellectual Club” features elevated reinterpretations of performance wear and athletic silhouettes. Among the highlighted pieces are a sailor jacket enhanced with dimensional pleats, zip-up jackets incorporating origami-like folds at their gatherings, and varsity jackets distinguished by exaggeratedly large sleeves. The fabrics chosen for the collection are particularly notable; subtle grid patterns reminiscent of chess boards are woven into linen blends, pineapple leaf fibers, and heavyweight wool textiles.
The collection initially debuted at Paris Fashion Week in June of the previous year. During the event, 7uice brought East Coast basketball players to Paris’s 19th arrondissement for a basketball game against a local team, further tying the line’s athletic and communal themes to its presentation. “Intellectual Club” is part of NAMESAKE’s broader “Offshore” collaborative initiative, which was conceived by founding brothers Steve and Michael as a tribute to their eldest brother, Richard.
Currently, the NAMESAKE x 7uice “Intellectual Club” collection is available for purchase both online and at select retailers. Prices start at $80 USD and reach up to $780 USD, offering a range of options for customers interested in the fusion of high-fashion design and sportswear influences.
