Dirty Water Records has announced the upcoming release of “RetroActive,” a comprehensive compilation by influential Californian power-pop band The Tearaways. This album is set to be released on February 14, 2025, and will showcase over four decades of the band’s contributions to the indie pop scene since their formation in Goleta, California.

The Tearaways, formed when a group of friends with a shared passion for second-hand vinyl, ’60s cinema, vintage fashion, muscle cars, surf culture, and music came together at a local swap meet, have since become known for their distinctive sound—a blend of the British Invasion style infused with Californian sunshine. Known for their infectious melodies and nostalgic vibes, the band has prided itself on its eclectic influences and engaging live performances.

The forthcoming album “RetroActive” includes a collection of tracks produced by notable music industry figures such as Earl Mankey, Tom Werman, Ron Dante, Neil Averon, and Ed Stasium. This release signifies the first time that these particular tracks will be compiled in one collection, providing both dedicated fans and new listeners with an array of power-pop gems.

The Tearaways have maintained a presence in the music community, with a commitment to classic pop sounds complemented by their unique flair. Their performances at prestigious events such as the International Beatleweek Festival and venues like the iconic Cavern Club in Liverpool have cemented their reputation. The band has also garnered respect from various high-profile fans, including actors Tom Hanks and Piers Morgan. Additionally, they have performed as the backing band for Joey Molland of Badfinger during concerts in both the United States and England.

“RetroActive” promises to be an engaging collection, delivering catchy power-pop tunes that appeal to a wide audience. The album aims to resonate with listeners young and old, creating an atmosphere of joy that encourages singing and dancing. As the date of release approaches, anticipation is building for what many hope will be a timeless addition to the power-pop genre.
