A TikTok user discovers two pairs of Manolo Blahnik heels at a thrift store, generating excitement among fans of ‘Sex and the City’ and vintage lovers.

A thrift-loving TikTok user recently captured the attention of fashion enthusiasts online by sharing her extraordinary find: two pairs of vintage Manolo Blahnik heels that were famously worn by Carrie Bradshaw, the iconic character from the television series “Sex and the City.” The viral video was posted by the user, identified as @sweetvintagez, sparking widespread excitement among fans of both the show and vintage fashion.

The discovery occurred at a thrift store, where the TikTok curator showcased a stunning silver D’Orsay heel and a vibrant pair of plaid kitten-heel mules, both priced at an affordable $39.99. In her video, she expressed her enthusiasm with the caption: “Found THE heels.” Since its posting, the video has garnered over 270,000 views, with comments pouring in from users expressing their disbelief and admiration at the bargain.

Manolo Blahnik, a renowned luxury shoe designer, became a household name largely due to his association with “Sex and the City.” The show’s lead character, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, was known for her obsession with fashion and particularly her collection of Blahnik shoes. A historical overview from a 2011 article by the New York Times chronicled how the designer’s profile elevated from niche to cultural phenomenon during the series’ original run from 1998 to 2004.

Today, Manolo Blahnik heels remain highly sought after, often retailing for prices ranging from $665 to upwards of $1,495 for new pairs. Even secondhand versions reflecting Carrie’s eclectic style are listed on platforms like Etsy and Vestiaire Collective, often hovering around $600 to $650. The plaid heel in particular gained recognition after its appearance in Season 3, Episode 3 of “Sex and the City,” titled “Attack of the Five Foot Ten Woman.” Although similar styles are available, the official Manolo Blahnik website lists a comparable pair, the Multicoloured Silk Buckle Detail Mules, for $995.

The TikTok community reacted enthusiastically to the discovery, with users flooding the comments section. One user exclaimed, “$40 Manolo’s? Girl HOW,” while another admitted, “I’ve never been more jealous in my life.” Comments also included humor about the cyclical fashion trends, with one TikToker quipping, “This is happening because the early 00s ‘It girls’ are grandma’s now!” Another user complimented the thrift finder, saying, “You’re God’s favorite.”

The phenomenon of Y2K fashion, which encapsulates styles from the late 1990s and early 2000s, has seen a resurgence in recent times due to nostalgia. This trend is characterized by bold colors, patterns, and distinctive accessories, and has inspired a wave of renewed interest in trends including low-rise jeans and chunky footwear.

Newsweek attempted to reach @sweetvintagez for further commentary but has not yet received a response.
