A Glasgow woman shares her excitement on TikTok after discovering a pair of black knee-high boots believed to be Chanel, priced at just £25.

A Glasgow thrift-store shopper has garnered attention on social media after discovering a pair of black knee-high boots that she believed to be Chanel at a newly opened hospice charity shop. Jo, known for her thrift-shopping exploits on TikTok under the handle @dayoutgirl, shared a video showcasing the boots, which were priced at £25 (approximately $31), a striking contrast to their estimated retail value of around £980 ($1,200).

“I had walked past the boots and only noticed them when I was trying on a jacket and realized they had the Chanel logo,” Jo told Newsweek. She described her excitement over finding the designer item and noted her habit of documenting such finds on TikTok to encourage others to explore sustainable shopping. “Shopping sustainably is where you find real gems,” she added.

Despite the thrill of finding what could be a luxury item, Jo ultimately decided to leave the boots behind due to their size, which was too small for her. “They were a size 4, and I do regret leaving them as my sister now said she would have worn them,” she confessed.

Jo’s TikTok post quickly attracted a flood of engagement, receiving hundreds of likes and comments. Supportive users complimented the boots, with one commenter, @pb0807, stating, “I’d def of got those. Gorgeous.” Another user, @Laura.Lou90, remarked on the bargain, noting, “You can’t even get a standard pair of knee-high boots from a high street store for that.” Some users, however, expressed skepticism about the authenticity of the boots, with a commenter under the handle @dartybb suggesting they might not be genuine.

This incident is not Jo’s first experience with thrift-store finds that have sparked interest online. Last year, she gained significant traction after finding a bracelet that resembled a Cartier piece, which was later confirmed to be a replica.

Jo’s TikTok account is dedicated to sharing her second-hand discoveries, and she aspires to transform her passion into a professional endeavor. She indicated plans to offer personalized styling services focused on charity shop items and mentioned already selling curated vintage homeware at thrift markets around Glasgow. Looking ahead, Jo is preparing for a trip to Paris, where she aims to explore its renowned thrift markets following a previous successful find of an authentic Hermès bag during an earlier visit.
