Kansas: Tiffany Haddish embarks on her “Funny and Fearless Tour” in February, blending stand-up with designer fashion by Christian Siriano. She shares personal stories in her routine while promoting self-improvement, and the event highlights Laverne Cox’s new sitcom and Siriano’s vintage-inspired runway collection.

Tiffany Haddish is set to blend fashion and comedy as she embarks on her “Funny and Fearless Tour,” beginning on February 20 in Mayette, Kansas. The actress and comedian is determined to make a bold statement at her performances, wearing designer gowns and outfits from Christian Siriano. Speaking to the New York Post, she said, “I’m wearing all designer gowns and outfits, keeping it spicy. I feel like comedy and fashion need to come back together.” This remark harks back to eras of vintage glamour, particularly the 1950s through to the 1980s, when performers routinely combined striking fashion with their acts.

Haddish plans to delve into her life experiences over the past three years in her stand-up routine, bringing an array of personal anecdotes to the stage. She declared, “Nothing is off limits, from accusations, sex, diseases, miscarriages, abuse from the media, from people in my life. I’m talking about all of it. I’m airing everybody’s ass out. Including my own!” The comedian has taken to social media to promote the tour but aims to limit her online presence, advising that people should “learn how to garden, understand finances, learn how to maybe melt down gold and silver… learn how to make clothes.”

At the same event, which featured Siriano’s latest collection, Laverne Cox celebrated the debut of her Prime Video sitcom, “Clean Slate.” The series revolves around a transgender woman reconnecting with her estranged father in Alabama and has received critical acclaim. Cox elaborated on her approach toward reviews, stating, “I try not to read [the reviews]. I’m super sensitive, so it’s not useful to read reviews. If they’re good, cool. That’s nice to hear.” She expressed her enthusiasm for her work and the camaraderie shared with her cast, describing it as a fulfilling experience of reuniting and laughter.

Siriano’s runway showcased vintage-inspired designs that embraced a rich mixture of textures and vibrant colours. It opened with supermodels Winnie Harlow and Coco Rocha, who strode down the runway in eye-catching racing-car red and black dresses. Of particular note was a custom cloak created in collaboration with Hulu to honour both the upcoming sixth season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” and the 40th anniversary of Margaret Atwood’s novel. This piece aimed to “reclaim the red” associated with the show, turning a symbol of servitude into one of empowerment.

Fashion historians have noted how the cyclical nature of fashion trends continues to influence contemporary celebrity wardrobes, with modern stars often drawing inspiration from iconic eras. Christian Siriano has risen to prominence for his ability to dress strong and fearless women, merging the worlds of vintage inspiration and modern aesthetics, thus shaping today’s style narratives.
