At the Academy Awards Nominees Dinner, Timothée Chalamet showcased a groundbreaking custom outfit from Gap, highlighting both style and cultural significance.

Timothée Chalamet recently made waves in the fashion world as he stepped out in a striking ensemble from Gap, designed by the brand’s Executive Vice President and Creative Director, Zac Posen. The actor donned this custom look on Tuesday night at the Academy Awards Nominees Dinner, an event held in Los Angeles which drew significant attention as stars prepare for the upcoming Oscars.

Chalamet’s outfit featured a sophisticated all-black aesthetic that included a GapStudio Icon Jacket crafted from duchess satin, sleek matching pants, and a Classic Tee made from black silk jersey. Styled by Taylor McNeil, this ensemble is noteworthy as it marks Gap’s inaugural custom men’s design, a significant move for the brand seeking to establish a foothold in high fashion.

The actor, known for his roles in films such as “A Complete Unknown,” complemented his look with high-end Cartier jewelry valued at approximately $80,000. This included a chunky Trinity necklace worth $63,500 that features entwined loops of yellow, rose, and white gold, and a diamond and onyx Les Berlingots de Cartier ring priced just under $15,000.

Zac Posen expressed his vision for the outfit in a press release, stating, “This look transcends fashion. It symbolizes heritage, legacy, and cultural evolution.” He referenced the cultural significance of music and fashion, notably the impact of Bob Dylan’s anthem “Like a Rolling Stone” and Gap’s origins as a retailer selling both jeans and records during the 1960s. Posen added, “The parallels, the energy, and the synergy inspired me to reimagine GapStudio’s first men’s look on a cultural icon like Timothée.”

In a similar vein, Anne Hathaway made headlines when she debuted the first-ever custom Gap look last year. She wore a white 100% cotton shirt dress, which quickly sold out after being made available for purchase at under $200. Hathaway’s ensemble was accessorized with opulent Bulgari jewelry, further showcasing the intersection of accessible fashion and luxury.

While details surrounding the availability of Chalamet’s three-piece set have not yet been confirmed, Gap offers denim alternatives that echo his red-carpet look, including the Classic Icon Denim Jacket, ’90s Loose Jeans, and Jersey Crewneck T-Shirt, all retailable at a fraction of the custom design’s cost.

As Hollywood anticipates the 2025 Oscars scheduled for this Sunday, all eyes will be on Chalamet to see what statement he will make on one of the industry’s most significant nights.
