The baroque Palazzo Litta in Milan set the stage for Twinset’s latest collection, blending relaxed styles with influences from iconic fashion figures of the ’60s and ’70s.
The opulent interiors of Palazzo Litta, a baroque architectural treasure located in Milan, served as the backdrop for Twinset’s latest fashion show on Sunday. The event showcased an array of designs that juxtaposed the lavish setting with a relaxed, undone vibe as models walked the carpeted runway.
This collection paid homage to two influential icons of the ’60s and ’70s, Marianne Faithfull and Anita Pallenberg. The show unfolded at a rapid pace, presenting looks that blended elements of rock-inspired bohemian style with romantic sensibilities. Highlights included intricately crafted crocheted minidresses that resembled lace adorned with faux feathers, as well as elongated knits that doubled as chic minidresses, some featuring delicate crocheted bibs and collars. The offerings further highlighted Twinset’s expertise in knitwear, showcasing argyle knit sets paired with briefs and cropped tops, alongside rib knit dresses that featured boat necklines and calf-length cuts, appealing to a commercially savvy audience.
Among the standout pieces was a cardigan characterized by fuzzy, mop-like shoulders, which complemented a flowing silk slip dress edged in lace, evoking a laid-back, just-out-of-bed style. A burgundy chiffon frock with ruffled bell sleeves contributed to a festival-ready aesthetic. Dark floral patterns and paisley designs adorned velvet dévoré blouses and dresses aimed at occasion wear with a touch of indie flair.
The collection also reflected influences from the ’80s, seen in strong-shouldered topcoats and army-inspired boleros, while some garments displayed creative twists, such as a tapestry-like piece paired with matching hot pants, catering to a younger generation that favors vintage aesthetics.
The show debuted with the iconic Led Zeppelin track “Stairway to Heaven,” establishing a mood that resonated with its theme. In a statement prior to the event, chief executive officer Alessandro Varisco articulated Twinset’s vision, describing the brand as “an alternative to luxury” that focuses on uncomplicated fashion at approachable price points. This ethos appeared to inform the collection, making it accessible to a broader range of fashion enthusiasts.
