The Spring Summer 2025 collection marks Vaquera’s 10-year anniversary, showcasing a blend of punk aesthetics and future nostalgia as they transition to Paris.
The Spring Summer 2025 collection by Vaquera marks a significant milestone, celebrating the brand’s 10-year anniversary. Designers Patric DiCaprio and Bryn Taubensee have infused this collection with a distinctive sense of subversion and punk aesthetics, while also prioritizing wearability and accessibility. This turning point illustrates a newfound confidence in their creative vision.
As the brand transitions into Fall Winter 2025, Vaquera finds itself at another pivotal moment. This June, the team relocates its studio and lives to Paris, prompting deep reflection on their time in New York. The upcoming collection embraces the idea of “future nostalgia,” blending past influences to create a cohesive and polished look. The designers have highlighted that in an era when individuals often feel powerless over various aspects of life, this collection serves as an “exercise in control.”
The American Dream remains a compelling theme for Vaquera’s designers, who draw inspiration from the aesthetic elements of the 1920s and 1980s. These decades are characterized by powerful, strong shoulder silhouettes and a subdued, somber color palette, enhanced by accents of pale pink and leopard print. This season’s collection features oversized corsages and pearl necklaces, while knitwear pieces present chunky textures painted in white. The designers have also created trench coats from similar fabrics, and the collection incorporates suits with shirts, pants, and skirts fashioned from suit lining fabric.
In terms of materials, leather appears in shades of black and cracked dark grey, complemented by faux fur elements in a blush leopard print. Additionally, Vaquera has elevated its signature bra emblem, utilizing it in oversized forms that drape across the body. A reimagined twist on the classic Converse Chuck, designed as a knee-high baggy boot with an internal wedge, rounds out the footwear offerings.
Further enriching the collection is a partnership with D’Heygere Jewelry, featuring oversized heart-shaped pendants and rings that contribute to the overall aesthetic. Continuing the cowboy shoe trend introduced in the previous season, Vaquera presents designs that merge pumps with boots, alongside denim that prominently showcases Andy Warhol’s iconic print of Marilyn Monroe, made possible through collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation.
As Vaquera prepares for this new chapter in Paris, the Fall Winter 2025 collection embodies a blend of retrospective homage and forward-thinking design. The melding of historical fashion motifs with contemporary elements signals an evolution for the brand while remaining firmly rooted in its past influences.
