The new collection aims to capture the essence of Italian weekend getaways, combining relaxed tailoring with rustic charm.
Milan served as the backdrop for the unveiling of a new collaboration between Weekend Max Mara and Giuliva Heritage, co-founded by designers Gerardo Cavaliere and Margherita Cardelli. The fall 2025 collection made its debut on Wednesday during Milan Fashion Week and aims to encapsulate the essence of Italian weekend getaways with a fresh and stylish approach.
The collection emphasizes relaxed tailoring combined with a touch of rustic charm, fitting seamlessly into both professional and leisure settings. The thoughtfully curated assortment features an earthy color palette and an eclectic mix of patterns and textures, which reflect a laid-back yet sophisticated aesthetic.
“I tried to create a mix of versatile garments, celebrating women’s harmony, grace and beauty,” Cavaliere explained in an interview. “I looked at strong and self-empowered women who wear their personality and don’t need to show off.” This vision is echoed in the designs, which range from formalwear to casual attire suitable for weekend excursions.
Giuliva Heritage, established in 2017, arose from the couple’s meeting in Rome, where Cavaliere was running a bespoke men’s tailoring workshop and Cardelli was managing a luxury communication consultancy. “The Giuliva Heritage wardrobe is filled with garments spanning every occasion of use, from formalwear to clothing intended for weekend getaways, so the tie-up with Weekend Max Mara was pretty natural,” Cardelli commented, expressing how the collaboration encapsulates notions of freedom and exploration.
The fall 2025 collection translates Cavaliere’s Neapolitan tailoring background into fashion-forward options such as a loose, pinstriped suit paired with roomy trousers, and a solid brown double-breasted coat layered over a matching utility shirt. Additionally, a vintage-inspired chevron overcoat complements corduroy pants along with either a cozy cable-knit cardigan or a sleek leather midi skirt.
“The Weekend Max Mara team really gave space to my creativity and my vision for the collaboration, letting me reinterpret their codes,” Cavaliere stated, emphasizing the synergy in working with the brand’s seamstresses to apply their specialized sartorial techniques in the final pieces.
In line with the desire for contemporary appeal, the collection also features youthful elements, exemplified by the combination of a pleated denim skirt with relaxed bohemian elements and a menswear-inspired blazer with exaggerated shawl lapels. Accessories include leather riding boots and a newly designed version of Weekend Max Mara’s signature Pasticcino Bag, crafted from vegetable-tanned leather with a distinctive textured finish.
The collection is set to be available in stores starting in September and will be promoted through editorial images featuring models Carolyn Murphy and her daughter Dylan Blue. This collaboration is part of Weekend Max Mara’s Signature Capsule project, which regularly invites designers or creative collaborators to reinterpret the brand’s identity. The previous season included a partnership with “Emily in Paris” actress Ashley Park.
Originally launched in 1983 as a casual outdoor collection, Weekend Max Mara is now a distinguished part of the Max Mara Fashion Group, with its offerings available in approximately 250 standalone and department stores worldwide.
