Wildberries has collected over 1,000 tons of textiles for donation and recycling, partnering with Ecoplatform and Synergetic to promote responsible consumer habits.

MOSCOW, RUSSIA – In a significant move towards sustainable practices, Wildberries, a major e-commerce platform in Eurasia, has announced that it has successfully collected over 1,000 tons of clothing and household textiles intended for donation or recycling. This initiative, known as “Not Just a Thing,” is a collaborative effort with eco-tech company Ecoplatform and eco-household products manufacturer Synergetic.

The program aims to integrate sustainability into consumer habits by utilizing Wildberries’ extensive e-commerce infrastructure alongside its partners’ logistics and marketing expertise. This strategic partnership seeks to change how individuals approach everyday shopping tasks while promoting responsible consumption and recycling.

To facilitate the donation process, Wildberries has set up a total of 1,482 collection boxes across its order pick-up points. This innovative approach has attracted participation from over 92,000 individuals who have contributed items such as clothing, towels, bags, bed linen, and other textiles. In exchange for their donations, participants receive bonus points that can be applied towards utility payments, special offers from partner companies, or directed to charitable causes.

Alexei Pogorelets, Managing Director of Not Just a Thing, commented on the initiative, stating, “We have created a convenient infrastructure with our collection boxes, as Wildberries pick-up points are places where people are already accustomed to collecting their orders, while bonus points motivate them to come back again.” This effectively makes the donations part of the shopping experience for customers.

The results of the initiative indicate a strong commitment to sustainable practices. Following a thorough sorting process, 78% of the donated items have been repurposed for recycling, while 10% have been given to charity or second-hand stores. The remainder of the donations, deemed unsuitable for reuse, were responsibly disposed of.

Currently, the Not Just a Thing initiative is active in four major cities in Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, and Nizhny Novgorod, as well as surrounding regions. There are plans for expansion, aiming to increase the number of collection boxes to 10,000 across the country.

Wildberries, established in 2004, has evolved into a leading e-commerce entity operating not only in Russia but also in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The platform, which also facilitates connections with sellers in China, has developed a robust IT infrastructure and an extensive logistics network that includes over 130 facilities and 58,000 pick-up points. As of 2025, Wildberries boasts a customer base of over 75 million and processes more than 20 million orders each day.
