Designer Zahira Moo showcases her collection ‘The Dark Night of the Soul’ emphasizing resilience and sustainability at SFWRUNWAY event.

Sustainable fashion designer Zahira Moo unveiled her latest collection, titled “The Dark Night of the Soul,” at New York Fashion Week 2025 on February 6, 2025. The event was hosted by SFWRUNWAY, a platform dedicated to promoting and supporting emerging designers of color, and it showcased Moo’s distinctive approach to sustainable fashion.

“The Dark Night of the Soul” serves as an artistic exploration of transformation and self-discovery, characterized by the use of upcycled garments alongside AI-driven designs. Naomi Alabi, founder of SFWRUNWAY, highlighted the theme of resilience embodied in the collection, stating, “This collection embodies resilience and the beauty that emerges from life’s most challenging moments.” The pieces feature romantic collars, black transparencies, velvet, and lace, all designed to evoke deep memories and emotions.

Moo’s innovative use of artificial intelligence in her design process aims to optimize resource use while minimizing environmental impact, aligning closely with SFWRUNWAY’s mission of promoting sustainable fashion. Alabi emphasized the significance of Moo’s work, saying, “Zahira’s work is a testament to the power of creativity and technology to drive positive change in the fashion industry.” The patterns in the collection are designed to reflect the energy and transformation that characterize the creative process, illustrating Moo’s remarkable ability to intertwine art, technology, and sustainability.

Born in Venezuela, Zahira Moo has gained recognition for her unique fashion designs that emphasize sustainability. Her academic background in Systems Engineering and Business Administration, along with her studies in fashion design and holistic therapy, contributes to her distinctive view of the fashion landscape. Moo’s prior participation in events such as Utah Fashion Week, Doral Fashion Week, and the Hispanic Heritage Parade on Fifth Avenue has further solidified her reputation within the industry.

SFWRUNWAY continues to advocate for designers like Moo, who are challenging conventional fashion standards and striving for a more responsible and inclusive industry. Through her innovative designs, Moo reflects the platform’s commitment to support and showcase emerging designers of color.

In addition to her design work, Moo is also launching a unique bootcamp for creatives, aimed at teaching principles of sustainability, upcycling, and artificial intelligence. This program is set to be available online in March 2025, with the goal of empowering designers and entrepreneurs to revolutionize the creative industry.
