Croatian fashion brand Boudoir, founded by sisters Martina ?i?ko Karapetri? and Morana Tomaševi?, reflects on 25 years of innovative designs and commitment to quality as they prepare for their anniversary in 2024.
Boudoir, a prominent Croatian fashion brand, is poised to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2024. Founded by sisters Martina ?i?ko Karapetri? and Morana Tomaševi? in 2001, the brand has evolved from humble beginnings into a notable name in the fashion industry.
Reflecting on their journey, the designers recalled their early days on the brand’s Facebook page, stating, “We started in a tiny space of only 15 square meters, which was both a workshop and a showroom – that’s where we sewed, created, and welcomed our first clients.” This initial workspace set the stage for their passion for fashion, where they began making evening gowns and organizing biannual fashion shows. At the time of their founding, both sisters were just 25 years old, navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship alongside motherhood.
“At the beginning, we sewed everything ourselves, learned from our mistakes, and juggled between the sewing machine and the responsibilities of being a mother,” they elaborated. It was through these experiences that the principles of quality and sustainability became integral to Boudoir’s identity.
In a significant shift in 2009, Boudoir moved to a more expansive location at Radi?eva 22, which transformed into their creative hub. This move allowed the brand to develop further as they launched their webshop, broadening access to their fashion creations beyond local clientele.
The sisters emphasized their commitment to sustainability, stating, “Customers recognized our quality and sustainable production. Each of our creations tells its own story and is made with the same love and care as on the first day.” This approach has resonated with buyers, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to creating unique pieces that reflect both artistry and conscientious production.
Boudoir has also engaged with the community, serving as ambassadors for vocational education and lifelong learning alongside the European Commission, where they delivered a speech in Brussels about the importance of education in the fashion industry.
As the brand prepares for its 25th anniversary, they have introduced a virtual mascot named Bakica. This character embodies the spirit, humor, and unpredictability that Boudoir strives to represent. Looking back on their journey, the sisters expressed their gratitude and pride, stating, “25 years of Boudoir. 25 years of dreams transformed into fabric. 25 years of you, who are part of our story.”
With a legacy of innovation, art, and quality firmly established, Boudoir has not only made a mark on Croatian fashion but also gained recognition as a brand that bridges the past, present, and future of the industry.
