The upcoming 20th season of Germany’s Next Topmodel will feature the iconic pairing of French actress Catherine Deneuve and German model Heidi Klum, promising an exciting blend of film and fashion expertise.

The new season of “Germany’s Next Topmodel” (GNTM) is set to introduce viewers to a remarkable pairing of style icons: Catherine Deneuve, the celebrated French actress, and Heidi Klum, the renowned German model and television host. This development marks an intriguing collaboration for the show’s 20th season, which will debut in 2025, bringing Deneuve’s extensive experience in both film and fashion to a fresh platform.

Catherine Deneuve, a figure synonymous with French cinema since the 1960s, garnered international acclaim with movies such as “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg,” “Repulsion,” and “Belle de Jour.” Throughout her illustrious career, Deneuve has collaborated with eminent directors, including François Truffaut and Luis Buñuel, and has received multiple awards, notably the César, for her performances in “The Last Metro” and “Indochine.” Her latest film projects include “Bernadette” (2023), where she portrays Bernadette Chirac, and several upcoming features, such as “Marcello Mio” and “Spirit World,” both set for release in 2024.

In a 2020 interview with the “Augsburger Allgemeine,” Deneuve expressed her intention to remain active in the industry, stating, “I can’t imagine going into retirement. I love films; all my friends are people from the industry.” She suggested that her strong need to work and maintain connection with her colleagues is a driving force in her career.

Deneuve has also played a significant role in the fashion world, becoming a muse for designer Yves Saint Laurent in the 1960s. Their collaboration produced iconic looks characterized by sharp tailoring and elegant feminine silhouettes. Deneuve’s fashion influence remains prominent; she is associated with luxury brands such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton and has often appeared at high-profile events and film festivals, including serving as the honorary president of the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.

Despite facing health challenges, including a stroke in 2019, Deneuve has made a notable return to the screen and continues to engage with major cinematic projects. She maintains a reputation for privacy, eschewing social media and preferring to keep her personal life out of the public eye. “It’s the social networks that prevent people from dreaming about stars anymore,” she stated in a 2015 interview with the British “Guardian,” emphasizing her preference for maintaining a sense of mystery.

As Deneuve joins Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, and Twiggy as guest judges on GNTM, her decades of experience in film and fashion promise to enrich the show’s format, providing insightful perspectives to the next generation of modeling talent. The combination of Deneuve’s storied career and Klum’s established presence in the industry sets the stage for an exciting season ahead.
