New York: Designer Dennis Basso showcased his fall 2025 collection in a historic Upper East Side mansion, embodying vintage glamour and elegance. The event featured luxurious, wearable pieces inspired by iconic New York women and attracted notable figures from the fashion world.
In an elegant nod to vintage glamour, designer Dennis Basso unveiled his fall 2025 collection against the backdrop of a historic Upper East Side mansion, once home to prominent figure Charles L. Colby. The event, attended by over 300 guests, took place in the Columbus Foundation, a venue reminiscent of the Gilded Age, characterised by its ornate limestone architecture.
Basso reflected on the significance of the location, stating, “What better place to have it than in a building that was built in 1890? A private family lived here until 1930. This was part of the original Gilded Age.” The designer chose the site due to its historical resonance and exclusivity, ideal for showcasing his collection inspired by the iconic women of New York throughout the years.
The presentation featured five distinct vignettes, each showcasing models styled to embody Basso’s clientele. The audience observed not only the luxurious garments but also a plethora of vintage-inspired pieces that echoed past fashion eras. Attendees donned a variety of luxurious furs, including sable and ermine, while the models exhibited stunning creations such as a brown mixed broadtail and sable mosaic fur coat, and a striking ruby satin gown adorned with a draped bow.
Emphasising the notion that fashion should serve the wearer rather than overshadow her, Basso remarked that his collection was crafted with “the woman who wears the clothes,” in mind. This sentiment permeated the event as models showcased pieces that highlighted both elegance and wearability. Among the standout pieces were a black duchesse satin tuxedo gown embellished with crystals and an off-white sheared mink chinchilla coat paired with wide-leg pants.
Efforts to accentuate the collection were evident in the carefully curated accessories, which included shoes and handbags from Basso’s signature line, as well as jewellery by designers Scott Nelson and Jennifer Miller. Hair and makeup were expertly managed by Julien Farel Salon, completing the luxurious image presented.

Basso’s loyal supporters included fashionista Jennifer Creel and stylist Phillip Bloch, while model Carol Alt and former reality TV star Kelly Bensimon added a contemporary edge to the event. Bensimon remarked on Basso’s commitment to elegance, stating, “Just as there are legacy properties with long narratives like the townhouse we are in today, that’s what Dennis is too.”
