GAP is hosting the ‘Gap Vintage Market by SW’ in Tokyo, featuring a unique selection of vintage clothing and a talk by designer Sean Wotherspoon.
GAP is set to host a unique vintage clothing collection event titled “Gap Vintage Market by SW,” curated by designer Sean Wotherspoon. The event is scheduled for March 16 and will take place in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, specifically at a parking area next to the restaurant OSCAR Vegan American Chinese, located within BONUS TRACK.
This event marks a continuation of the “Gap Vintage Project,” a collaboration between GAP and Wotherspoon, which aims to share iconic archival pieces from the brand with a wider audience. Earlier this year, similar events were held in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and Shinsaibashi, Osaka, to much anticipation and participation.
During the market, attendees will have the opportunity to sell their personal GAP items, encouraging a community-oriented approach to vintage fashion. The first participants to arrive will receive an original T-shirt, adding incentive for early attendance. A highlight of the event will be a talk session led by Sean Wotherspoon himself, titled “Spring into Gap talk with Gap’s Global Vintage Curator, Sean Wotherspoon,” which is set to start at 1 PM. This session will focus on discussions surrounding vintage clothing and the culture that surrounds it.
In addition to the vintage offerings, OSCAR Vegan American Chinese will feature a special menu available only during the event. This menu will include a cheese bowl and beer set priced at 1320 yen, along with a cheese bowl and soft drink set available for 1100 yen.
This event underscores GAP’s efforts to tap into the vintage market, appealing to fans of retro fashion and those seeking unique clothing items while creating a vibrant social event centered around community participation and sustainable fashion practices.
